Politicians talk a good line about working for "we the people." However, it is all BS. The first priority of a politician is to get elected or reelected. There is no higher priority and they will go to any lengths, legal and illegal, to accomplish their task. Their complete loyalty is to those who provide money or to those who provide votes for their reelection campaigns. The golden rule still applies: "He who has the gold rules." Once politicians get elected then they have another way of attracting money and votes. That method is called EARMARKS which are mostly secret and only applied at the last minute to bills before the congress.
EARMARKS are a way of politicians giving your tax dollars to their supporters with very little accountability and without you even knowing who the politician was who requested the earmark.

Voter Brainwashing
Brainwashing normally starts in a child's early years by overhearing their parents speak of political matters. The child decides, "My daddy was a Democrat and so am I." or "My daddy was a Republican and so am I."
When people start paying attention to politics they find themselves being brainwashed again by key sound-byte statements repeated over and over again by politicians. I am sure you have heard statements such as "free enterprise," "tax & spend," "tax cuts," "freedom," "security," and many more. And, the voter is attracted to whichever politician that issues the sound-byte they like. The sad think is that the sound-byte is meaningless. What Can You Do?
Don't just sit there and compain! Either shut the hell up and continue to get screwed or do something to help. Phone, write, e-mail your elected representatives and let them know how you think. You must do this over and over again -- drive them nuts.
Also, constantly call and send email messages to television networks news departments. The only way to sway politicians is to get the attention of the news media. To do that the public must bombard both the news media and the politicians with letters, phone calls and email. Until the news media starts constantly reporting on an issue nothing will be done.
